Gänglesee

Why visit

Gänglesee provides an accessible way to experience Liechtenstein’s alpine interior without committing to a long summit walk. The water, meadows and surrounding ridges form a compact high-valley landscape, with paths continuing through Steg and towards higher terrain. It works particularly well alongside the Walser Museum and Malbun because the three stops reveal different aspects of Triesenberg: cultural history, traditional high-valley settlement and the more elevated mountain environment beyond.

History

The lake sits within the Steg valley, an area shaped by traditional alpine agriculture and later recreational use. Its present form and surroundings are closely connected with management of the high valley’s water, meadows and visitor landscape.
