3Why there is no cookie banner
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the equivalent EU rules, consent is required before storing anything on a person's device unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide the service that person explicitly requested.
Necessary storage supports the service you request. Limited first-party statistical use is described clearly and has a free, simple objection control on the Privacy page. Togvia therefore does not use a large consent banner, but it does preserve your analytics choice for one year.
If that ever changes — if we ever introduce a cookie that is not necessary and not a preference you set — we will ask for your consent first, granularly, and you will be able to withdraw it just as easily as you gave it.
4What Togvia stores

An entry marked "stored on your device" is browser storage rather than a cookie: it never leaves your browser and is never sent to us.
5Third-party content
Some pages load content from other organisations — map tiles, typefaces, the mapping library and some photographs. None of them receives your account, your trips or your votes, and none of them sets an advertising cookie on Togvia. Because a browser must reveal its IP address to fetch anything, each of them necessarily sees that.

6Managing and deleting cookies
You can see, block and delete cookies and browser storage from your browser's settings. Most browsers keep these under Privacy, Site settings or Site data, and let you clear them for one site or for all of them.
Because everything Togvia stores is either necessary or a preference, blocking it has a predictable effect rather than a mysterious one: blocking the session cookie will sign you out and prevent you from signing back in, and clearing browser storage will reset your theme, text size and contrast to their defaults. Nothing else will break.
If you plan a trip without an account, that trip is held against your browser session. Clearing your browser data will lose it. Creating a free account protects it.
7Changes to this policy
If we add, remove or change what Togvia stores on your device, this page changes and the date at the top moves. Where a change would require your consent, we will ask for it before making the change.
