Why visit

Well-preserved Archaic and early Classical temple set on a pine-covered hill on Aegina. The sanctuary has older roots, while the surviving Doric temple was built around 500 BCE and dedicated to the local goddess Aphaia. Its pedimental sculptures mark an important transition in Greek sculpture and are now divided between museum collections. The visit is strongest when you focus on doric colonnade, hilltop saronic views and sanctuary remains.
