A calm neoclassical spa centre of colonnades, pavilions and formal green spaces. Františkovy Lázně was planned as a spa town around mineral springs from the late eighteenth century and is included in the Great Spa Towns of Europe UNESCO property. It is included because it adds a distinctive experience to a realistic Františkovy Lázně or regional itinerary rather than acting as a filler stop.
