History
Monaco has issued its own stamps since the nineteenth century and has a longer tradition of distinctive coinage under the Grimaldi rulers. The museum was established to display important philatelic and numismatic holdings, including material connected with the princely collections. Its modern Fontvieille home presents the evolution of Monaco’s postal and monetary history through rare issues, dies, documents and coins.
