The princely car collection connects Monaco’s long motor-sport identity with the personal collecting interests of Prince Rainier III. The display spans several periods of motoring rather than focusing only on racing, so the visit works for design, engineering and social-history interests as well as for Formula One followers. Competition cars and vehicles associated with the princely family provide a direct Monaco connection. The museum’s location near Port Hercule also makes it easy to pair with the harbour and parts of the Grand Prix street circuit without building the day around a distant specialist museum.

History
Prince Rainier III began assembling a substantial private vehicle collection over several decades. As the number and significance of the cars grew, selections were placed on public display in Monaco. The collection later moved to a modern exhibition space near Port Hercule, allowing historic road cars, ceremonial vehicles and competition machinery to be shown together.
