Why visit

Pärnu Beach shows a different side of Estonia from the medieval cities and manor landscapes. The shallow bay, long sandy frontage and adjacent parkland explain why Pärnu developed as the country’s best-known resort town. A visit can focus on the shoreline itself or extend through the historic beach district, promenade and spa-era architecture. Outside peak bathing weather the beach still works as a coastal walk, with open views across the bay and easy access back to the compact town centre.

History

Pärnu developed as a spa and seaside resort from the nineteenth century, and the beach became central to that identity. Successive bathing facilities, parks and promenades shaped the modern waterfront.
