Shiroka Laka shows how architecture responded to the narrow valleys and climate of the central Rhodopes. History
Shiroka Laka expanded during the Bulgarian National Revival, when substantial houses were built by prosperous local families. The village later became associated with the preservation and teaching of Rhodope folk music.
