Constructed in secrecy between the 1950s and late 1970s, ARK D-0 preserved communications, command rooms and living spaces for a protected wartime government. The place should be understood within Bosnia and Herzegovina’s layered history, where medieval states, Ottoman administration, Austro-Hungarian rule, Yugoslav development and the 1992–1995 war left different traces.
