The Parish Church of St Nicholas forms an architectural pair with nearby Gutenberg Castle: one occupies the valley settlement while the other crowns the hill immediately behind it. The church’s tall tower and substantial masonry give Balzers a strong civic and religious centre, and the surrounding streets reveal the contrast between parish architecture, castle landscape and modern village. Old Rhine Bridge Vaduz–Sevelen
The Old Rhine Bridge turns an international border into a quiet walking and cycling crossing. Its enclosed timber structure gives a close view of traditional bridge engineering, while openings reveal the river, gravel banks and mountain backdrop. Because the national boundary runs through the bridge, the crossing also makes Liechtenstein’s geography unusually tangible: Vaduz, Sevelen and two countries are separated by only a short walk across the Rhine.
