Estonian Open Air Museum
The museum gives physical context to rural life that is difficult to gain from objects in indoor galleries. Farm complexes from different parts of Estonia show how building materials, layouts and household economies varied by region and period. Paths between the buildings create a landscape-scale visit, while demonstrations and interiors, when operating, add craft and domestic detail. It is a useful early stop in a longer Estonia trip because many later villages, manor estates and island landscapes become easier to read after seeing these traditional building types.

Pirita Convent Ruins
Pirita’s ruins create a strong architectural space even though most monastic buildings no longer survive intact. The tall west façade and open nave make the scale of the former church immediately legible, while surviving walls indicate the wider convent enclosure. The site broadens Tallinn’s medieval story beyond the city walls and shows the importance of monastic institutions around the late medieval port. Its riverside location also makes it easy to combine with the Pirita coast and other eastern Tallinn sites.

Jägala Waterfall
Jägala is one of the easiest places near Tallinn to see the geological character of northern Estonia in a dramatic form. The river drops over a wide limestone ledge, exposing the layered rock and creating very different scenes as water levels and freezing conditions change. Paths around the falls offer more than one perspective, although surfaces can be wet or icy. The site works well on a route towards Lahemaa because it introduces the limestone landscape that reappears along the northern coast.
