Perperikon
Perperikon is valuable because the same rocky hill preserves evidence from many different periods rather than one isolated civilisation. Rock-cut features, walls, religious structures and later fortifications show how successive communities reused a commanding location. The exposed hilltop also makes the landscape part of the archaeology, with long views explaining why the site had strategic and symbolic importance. It is one of the clearest places to appreciate the depth of settlement history in the Eastern Rhodopes.
