Best time to visit

April to June and September to October usually offer the best balance for cities, coast, islands and lower mountain routes. July and August bring the fullest ferry and visitor programme but also the highest heat, crowds, traffic and prices.

Winter suits major cities and some cultural visits, but island ferries, boat tours, beaches, caves and mountain roads may use reduced schedules or close. Bora wind, thunderstorms, wildfire restrictions and rough seas can affect plans in any season.
